About Me

My goal is to evaluate patients as accurately as possible and determine the cause of problems with memory or thinking. I may order tests to help achieve this goal. Together, we will begin a treatment plan. Part of the plan may be starting a medication, entering a clinical trial, or participating in a research study. I am dedicated to developing, discovering, and using the latest health-related advances to evaluate, diagnose, and treat dementia. My mission is to provide patients the opportunity to participate in research and partner with us in discovering and understanding what causes changes to memory and thinking. Together, we will contribute to finding the cause and the cure.

Clinical Focus and Research

My Research Interests

I enjoy research that involves detecting causes of cognitive decline and possible treatments. Currently, I offer a gene therapy clinical trial for people with cognitive decline due to Alzheimer's Disease and a genetic risk factor called the APOE4 gene. I am interested in new drugs that may slow or stop cognitive decline. In addition, I collaborate with other researchers at Duke Health to work to discover why cognitive decline occurs. As part of the Duke-UNC Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, I lead a research group that observes and studies changes in memory or thinking as people age.
