Neurologic conditions can be scary, and neuroimmunologic conditions even more so. It's easy to feel in the dark about what is happening. I approach patient care with just as much attention to empowering education as I do to disease management. I strive to "turn the lights on" so people know more about their conditions, what to expect, and (most importantly) what we can do about them. As a neuroimmunologist, I specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of immune system disorders that affect the central nervous system. Chief among the conditions I help manage is multiple sclerosis, but I also see patients with neuromyelitis optica, neurosarcoidosis, transverse myelitis, and auto-immune encephalitis. My research interests are in quality improvement in MS management, in understanding and treating MS fatigue, and in utilizing new mobile technologies to monitor patients with neurologic conditions.
