About Me

Learn More About Me

I specialize in diagnosing and treating heritable arrhythmia syndromes that affect children and young adults such as long QT syndrome, Brugada syndrome, catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia syndrome, and short QT syndrome. I specialize in identifying the cause of patients who have experienced a sudden cardiac arrest. I am a physician-scientist and cross-trained in pediatric cardiology, electrophysiology, human genetics, and molecular physiology. I lead an active research program that brings together clinical medicine, functional genomics, precision medicine, and molecular and cellular biology.

Clinical Focus and Research

My Research Interests

I lead a research program dedicated to identifying the causes of arrhythmias and heart muscle disease (cardiomyopathies) that can run in families. This includes diseases like long QT syndrome, short QT syndrome, Brugada syndrome, catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia, sudden infant death syndrome, sudden unexplained death syndrome, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy. I specialize in cardiovascular genetics and identifying at-risk family members as many of these diseases can be passed in the family.
