As U.S. News and World Report’s highest-ranked orthopaedic provider in North Carolina, Duke Orthopaedics offers state-of-the-art care — and now that care can reach more patients, with new providers in Wake County.

Six of the newest physicians to join Duke Orthopaedics are now seeing patients at convenient Wake County locations, complementing the full range of services offered to better serve patients and collaborate with referring physicians.

“Duke Orthopaedics consistently ranks as the best patient experience, with great outcomes. It is the only orthopaedic department in the Southeast U.S. ranked in the top 25 in the world by Newsweek,” says pediatric orthopaedic surgeon Benjamin A. Alman, MD, chair of the Duke Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. “Now you can have the same high-quality care in your own backyard.”

The full range of orthopaedic care

Duke offers complete care for orthopaedic conditions, from medication to physical and occupational therapy, and from minimally-invasive surgery to more extensive operations. “We have all the different types of treatment options available, and we can tailor treatments to what works best for your patients’ needs,” says Alman.

Building upon the services offered in Wake County, the new specialists are expanding offerings in foot and ankle, total joint, shoulder, sports medicine, and spine. With orthopaedics locations in Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Morrisville, Knightdale, and Wake Forest, Duke offers convenient appointments throughout Wake County with online scheduling options. These sites have providers that cover all areas of orthopaedics. For many services, same-day and next-day appointments are available for self-scheduling.

“We aim to provide a really good experience for the patients to manage all their needs with a patient- and family-centric approach to care — and to do that with the highest quality interventions possible,” Alman says. “Our providers aren’t just using the knowledge but developing new approaches.”

Duke Orthopaedics’ mission

Duke Orthopaedics looks to not only provide excellent patient care but also advance future orthopaedic treatments. “We want to provide multiple levels of service,” Alman says. This includes addressing the needs of broad populations, such as managing the care of patients with single joint pain who don’t require or wish to avoid surgery. A second level of service would provide high-quality, effective care for patients who require surgery.

Finally, the department seeks to further the science of orthopaedics. “We’re always reaching out, developing new innovations, and seeking to rapidly bring those innovations into patient care,” Alman says. Expanding offerings in Wake County dovetails with Duke Orthopaedics’ mission, says Alman: “We want to improve the health of our state, region, and international community.”
