Duke Health Referring Physicians

I began my health care career as an exercise physiologist, working with patients to improve their health after they were diagnosed with heart problems. From this role I learned about the physician assistant profession. After becoming a PA I knew that I wanted to continue to help patients with heart issues. I spent my first 6 years as a PA working inpatient at Duke, on the cardiac step down units and in the cardiac ICU.

I have since transitioned to seeing cardiology patients on the outpatient side. I currently see patients who have acute needs that can be met in clinic, such as those with worsening heart failure or chest pain. I also see patients after hospital or ED discharge to make sure they are doing ok and prevent them from needing to go back to the hospital. I don't follow any of my own patients longitudinally. Finally, I also work doing Heart Failure “remote monitoring”, helping patients with different implanted and wearable devices try to feel better and stay out of the hospital.

I look forward to partnering with patients and taking the time to provide education about their cardiac conditions. I want to listen to and build relationships with patients to help them achieve their health goals.
