I am hospital medicine and geriatrics specialist whose patient care focus is on the hospital care of the elderly. My work includes inpatient geriatric consultation, perioperative care, transitions of care, and patient safety. I am also a geriatrics hospitalist clinical researcher who conducts innovative and high impact research that leads to better care, reduced risk, and lower cost to hospitalized older adults.
My research focuses on seeking innovative ways to improve outcomes for hospitalized elders and to optimize utilization of resources in the context of U.S. national health care transformation. My goal in this field is to improve effectiveness, efficiency and safety of care of hospitalized older adults.
