My father always used to say that without health, it is hard to obtain happiness. My decision to study and practice medicine stemmed from my desire to help others achieve health and lead fulfilling lives. As a maternal-fetal medicine specialist, I predominately see patients needing prenatal diagnosis, ultrasound and consultation for medically complicated pregnancies. These patients are often anxious about coming to see me and what it might mean. Knowing this, I seek to understand their concerns and allay their fears, while giving them quality medical care. I enjoy the challenge of my work, from making diagnoses, to solving problems, to the intensity of the labor and delivery room. However, what I love most about my work is the connection I make with my patients during an important time in their lives. It is an honor to partner with women and their families as they pursue healthy pregnancies that result in healthy babies, and it is a privilege to share the ups and downs of that journey with them.
