I’m a surgeon that focuses on treating cancers of the head and neck. My goal is to treat the whole patient and not just focus on the problem of the cancer. I often see patients in a very vulnerable time, but it’s very rewarding to help them through that. You get to know them in a unique way. I try to spend as much time as needed with the patient to explain the issue and the various treatment options. When I know them and what their stressors are, I can factor that in when recommending their treatment. Outside of work, I like to spend a lot of time with my wife and our four sons.
I am interested in exploring how patients and their family members make end-of-life decisions. I am also interested in exploring issues surrounding informed consent for surgical procedures.
